Services at a Glance
Day Centre
Day Centre services offer individual support to assist clients to retain control and remain independent and living in their own homes for as long as they choose. Clients are also able to participate in activities. Please click on link at the bottom of this page for further information on activities.
A freshly cooked 2 course meal is available daily as part of the Day Care service and is served at 12:30 pm. Individual special dietary requirments can be catered for with prior notice. We ask that all meals are booked before 10:30 am on the day required.
A Light breakfast of toast, fruit juice and cereals is also available.
We are pleased to take referrals from older people direct, or from anyone acting on their behalf and with their agreement. We can arrange a mutually convenient time for individuals to visit the centre to see first hand the services and activities available. This also offers an opportunity to explain the services we provide and to answer any questions you may have.
Transport Service
We have a fleet of two minibuses fitted with tail lifts to assist individuals with mobility needs and those who require additional assistance. The Transport service operates across all areas of the Romney Marsh with the exception of Ivychurch, Newchurch, Snargate, Brenzett and Brookland, offering transport to and from the Day Centre.
Link Transport Service
The Romney Marsh Day Centre Link Transport Service - A door to door service getting you where you need to go.
If you do not have access to a car or other suitable means of transport getting from A to B is not always as simple as it should be. Thanks to the support of the Little Cheyne Wind Farm and the Kent Community Foundation the Romney Marsh Day Centre is now able to offer an individual transport service for older people living in the Romney Marsh area.
When can I use the Link Transport Service? - If you are a local person and are unable to use public transport or do not have access to any other suitable means of transport and you need to attend a medical appointment, visit friends or relatives, connect to another form of transport, attend a club or other social event, visit the local shops or library, attend a hospital appointment (remember that if you are eligible you should use the hospital transport service for your hospital appointments).
The Link Transport Service is available Monday - Friday 9.00am - 3.00pm - It may however be possible to accomodate journeys outside of these times by special arrangement.
How do I make a booking? - You will need to register as a member of the Link Transport service before your first journey is undertaken, please do not let this worry you membership is free and it is an easy process that can be undertaken over the phone.
How much does the Service Cost? - There is a minimum charge of £5.50 this covers the first 8 miles after which passengers will be charged 45p per mile. Mileage is calculated from the Romney Marsh Day Centre and back to the Day Centre. Payment should be paid to the Driver who will issue you with a receipt.
Passengers are responsible for any car parking charges.
Concessions are available if a family member, friend or carer needs to accompany you, please ask at time of booking.
If you require our Driver to wait for you, a waiting charge of £2.50 per 15 minutes or part thereof will be payable after the first 15 minutes.

Bathing Service
There are two fully equipped accessible bathrooms. An assisted bathing service is available.
Hairdressing
We have a fully equipped hairdressing salon with a qualified Hairdresser to cater for ladies and gentleman. The salon offers appointments 5 days a week.
Rehabilitation Unit
This new and unique initiative enables older people living on the Romney Marsh to access rehabilitation services locally.
The Rehabilitation Unit provides clients with individual rehabilitation therapy programmes following illness or injury, which will assist in regaining physical abilities and the skills and confidence needed to live as independently as possible in their own homes.
How to access the Rehabilitation Services.
Referrals must be made to the Primary Care Trust Intermediate Care Team. The referral must be made by an individual’s GP, District Nurse or other Health Care Professional, or a Social Services Care Manager. If appropriate the individual will commence their therapy programme at the Rehabilitation Unit.
Hi Kent Hearing Aid Clinics
This is an open surgery provided by HI Kent volunteers. This surgery is available to anyone with an National Health Service Hearing aid/s. The volunteers are able to carry out tubing replacement, basic cleaning and the issuing of replacement batteries as stocks allow.
Surgeries are held on the 1st Monday and 3rd Tuesday of every month at the Romney Marsh Day Centre between the hours of 10am and 12noon.
