Activities Available at the Day Centre
Group activities give individuals the opportunity to chat, work independently within a group or support one another, they are available on a regular basis. The choice is yours!
The Romney Marsh Day Centre encourages individuals to have their say when developing leisure and recreational activities, so if you have any ideas or suggestions please feel free to let us know.
Seated Exercise Classes
These classes are lead by members of the Romney Marsh Day Centre staff team who have attended a comprehensive course and have gained a qualification that enables them to lead this activity. These classes encourage individuals to socialise and meet new friends whilst helping to improve their mobility and mental and physical health and wellbeing.
Tai Chi Classes
These classes are held on Fridays and run by a qualified instructor who has many years of experience working with older people and people with varying health conditions. For those of you who would like a taster then why not join our beginner’s class. These classes are offered at regular intervals for a period of twelve weeks, intermediate and advanced classes are also available.
Mature Movers Classes
Mature Movers Classes to be held every Wednesday 2.30pm—3.00pm.
This is a well balanced programme low impact movement to music, free from injurious exercises. (no floor work involved)

The 3 F's workout, Fabulous, Fit and Fifty.
The 3 F's Exercise Workout, Fabulous Fit and Fifty+ is a new energised workout brought to you by Perfect Balance for Life. This programme is fast but not too furious and will work your body and mind in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. This class is held at the Romney Marsh Day Centre on Mondays from 11.30am until 12.30pm at a cost of £3.50 per session. Come along and join us you will be very welcome.
Cooking Group
Baking savouries and cakes to take home for tea.
Gardening Group
Plan and discuss the plants you want to grow. We also have a small, established vegetable patch in the Day Centre garden. Assistance from members of staff is available if required.
Craft Activities
Make homemade cards for friends and relatives. Make items to sell to assist with our fundraising, for example, homemade greeting cards, book marks, money wallets, lavender bags, flower arrangements and table decorations.
Art Group
Catering for all abilities, from individuals who enjoy adult doodle art to individuals who enjoy drawing and painting in water colours.
Group Table Games
An opportunity to socialise and meet new friends. Games include scrabble, dominos, various card games, group quizzes and memory games.
Poetry Group
An opportunity to socialise, meet new friends and to share your enthusiasm for poetry.
Outings
Includes Cream Teas and Pub Lunches.
Talks from Guest Speakers. For Example:-
• The Countryside Project - local wildlife
• The local Guide Dog for the Blind association - puppies in training, the puppies came too!
• The local Camera Club - audio visual shows.
• The local Model Engineering Society – garden track trains.
